COEUR d'ALENE — For the third time in the last four years, Clark Fork's Wesley Simko and Blaine Williams are headed to state.

The boys doubles team punched their ticket by claiming the 3A District 1-2 title in the event on Saturday in Coeur d'Alene.

Simko and Williams took down the No. 1 doubles team from Coeur d'Alene Charter, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

"Wes and Blaine took control of the first set right away," head coach Jeff Emmer said. "CDA Charter changed tactics and started lobbing over the net person, and that threw them off in the second set. But to their credit, the boys made some adjustments and took back control, capping off their undefeated regular season."

Simko and Williams also qualified for state as a doubles pair in 2018 and 2019, and likely would have done the same in 2020 had the season not been canceled.

The seniors will be looking to cap off their high school careers with some hardware when they compete in the 3A state tennis tournament on Friday and Saturday at Sage Valley Middle School and Ridgevue High School in Nampa.
