Simko, Williams in consolation semifinals at state
NAMPA — Clark Fork's Wesley Simko and Blaine Williams still have a chance to bring home medals after the first day of the 3A state tennis tournament.
The boys doubles team will play in the consolation semifinals on Saturday morning, and with a win, would secure a spot in the consolation championship and a placing position at state.
The duo opened the tournament on Friday with a bye, before taking down a doubles team from Sun Valley Community School, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, in the quarterfinals.
Head coach Jeff Emmer said Simko and Williams were leading the second set 1-0 when rain stopped play for about four hours.
In the semifinals, the duo lost to a doubles pair from Sugar-Salem, 6-3, 6-1.
