U12 Sandpoint Strikers capture gold at HOTSHOT Tournament

The Sandpoint Strikers U12 boys continued their strong spring season by winning the gold division at the Bill Eisenwinter HOTSHOT Tournament on May 14-16 in Coeur d'Alene.

The Strikers battled some of the best teams the region has to offer and they outscored their opponents 16-6 in the tournament. The team rattled off wins against Missoula, Kalispell and Coeur d’Alene to advance to the finals where they met the Boise Timbers.

The game against the Timbers was highly contested and was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation. The Strikers would go on to win in overtime on a golden goal scored by Owen Miller.

"These boys represented Sandpoint well this weekend," coach Jameson Longanecker said. "They are a very talented group and have been working hard all season. The final game was high-quality soccer between two really competitive clubs. Our team simply figured out how to come together as a group to get this result."
