Dead deer leads to a lesson in frustration
So we got another lesson recently on the frustration of dealing with city of Sandpoint "public servants." My wife went to work in her gardens just down the street from our house and soon came back home, shaken, because there was a dead deer stuck in the garden fence.
We went and removed the deer, wrapped it and all the flies in plastic and called police dispatch to ask who to call for disposal of the carcass.
The officer that called back said that he had been in the neighborhood to "dispatch" another deer and had seen the one stuck in our fence. He then said that the phone number connected to our utility trailer registration didn't work. Now I assume that was a landline from years ago and that there was a street address there too. We live less than 500 yards from the garden and it would have taken a minute to drive down and knock on our door.
Long story short, it's our responsibility to dispose of the deer (glad it wasn't a moose) and I guess the officer was going to let us find the rotting carcass in due time.
Thanks for the great community service.
