Mr. and Mrs. Benny Bachman and family and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Selle and family spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Selle.

Lee Burnett and a friend spent a 10-day leave from the Navy with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Art Burnett.

LIGHT VOTING IN CITY ELECTIONS

In a contest for three Sandpoint City Council seats, incumbent Bert Lines was defeated by Mrs. Edna Spealman. Two other incumbents, George Harper and Robert Kalb, were reelected by substantial pluralities. Only 58 per cent of eligible electors cast ballots. Slush underfoot and threatening skies are believed to have kept many voters away from polling places.

SUTLIFF, BLOOM ASSUME NEW JOBS

Mrs. Alberta Sutliff, Lincoln Elementary principal for nine years, has been appointed to a newly created position as School Psychologist for the district. Mr. Richard Bloom, a 10-year member of the district’s professional staff, will be the new Lincoln principal in addition to his duties as Washington School principal.

WINDOW PAINTING CONTEST WINNERS

Winners in the VFW Auxiliary window painting contest were Debbie Downen and Kim Lewis, tied for first, Heidi Owenby and Becky Hill, tied for second, and Bob Hill, third. Lu Ellen Gray and Catherine Anderson served as window judges.

Pend d’Oreille Review

Nov. 7, 1921 – CITY BREVITIES

The Pend d’Oreille Review’s inquiry for a copy of the April 14, 1911 issue, with the story of Col. Roosevelt’s visit to Sandpoint, was speedily answered by Mrs. D.C. O’Leary who Saturday brought a copy to the Review. It was sent on to the Roosevelt Memorial association in Washington, recently formed for the purpose of preserving original documents, letters and writings of the ex-president, and various newspapers and periodicals having to do with his activities.

SHERIFF INVESTIGATES PRANKS

Sheriff Kirkpatrick was called to Priest River Tuesday by reports of excessive property damage to the theater there but found on arrival that a broken door was the most disastrous feature. The town had also been somewhat aroused by a more or less perverse prank played by a number of boys who removed an outhouse from private property and set it up on the main street, in front of the Willi meat market.

LAKE FRONT PARK LEASE OFFERED

At the chamber of commerce directors luncheon at the St. James cafe, the secretary reported receipt of a proposed lease for the lake front park from the N.P. in which the time was fixed at six months with the option to the chamber to correct the time clause, subject to Northern Pacific approval. The directors favored a long lease with the stipulation that so much improvement be executed annually for a certain period of years and the park thereafter maintained at a fixed standard.
