County treasurer applications sought

SANDPOINT – The Bonner County Republican Central Committee has announced the launch of their candidate application process for nominee for Bonner County treasurer.

Bonner County Treasurer Cheryl Piehl, a Republican, is retiring and has submitted her notice of resignation of office to the Bonner County commissioners. Her resignation is effective Jan. 5, 2022.

BCRCC officials, as authorized by Idaho Code, will submit the names of three qualified nominees to the commissioners, who will then select a treasurer from among those nominees.

All qualified candidates may obtain an application packet from the BCRCC website, bonnercountygop.com or by at the Nov. 16 BCRCC meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Ponderay Events Center.

The deadline for candidates to submit their application to the BCRCC is Dec. 3. Nomination interviews will take place at a special BCRCC meeting, which will be announced on the committee's website.

Applicants must be a United States citizen, be at least 18 years old, have 30 days residency in Bonner County, and be a registered Bonner County voter. The professional responsibilities of the treasurer can be found at bit.ly/31BvKoy.
