Nov 7-13, 2021 is National Nurse Practitioner Week. All across the country, nurse practitioners are joining their colleagues and frontline workers addressing the COVID-19 pandemic while providing patients’ regular health care.
Nurse practitioners provide over 1 billion visits in the U.S annually. There are 1400 NPs in Idaho, including over 30 in the Sandpoint community, and they provide half of the primary care in the state. Nurse practitioners provide high quality, cost effective, personalized health care. NPs have been licensed in Idaho for over 50 years. Idaho has the distinction of being the first state to grant full practice authority. This allows NPs to work to the full scope of their education and licensure.
