Veteran appreciation event Nov. 20
SANDPOINT — Area veterans are being honored this weekend at a special appreciation event with speakers from a World War II and a Vietnam War Veteran taking part.
The event, set for Saturday, Nov. 20, is hosted by the Wild Horse Trail Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution.
This event is an opportunity to acknowledge, honor and thank those who have served the nation from across all branches of service, internationally, domestically, in peacetime and in war.
The Wild Horse Trail Chapter of NSDAR invites all Bonner and Boundary County veterans and their families to attend.
“God, home, country” is the motto. The NSDAR chapter honors and supports those who serve the nation. In addition, members are engaged in community service, preserve history, and promote patriotic education of America’s children and are excited to have an opportunity to do something special for the community’s veterans, said NSDAR members.
The event is free and is from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sandpoint Events Center, third floor auditorium, 102 S. Euclid St., Sandpoint. The building is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator to access the third floor auditorium.
NSDAR will also be participating in Wreaths Across America, an organization whose mission is to remember, honor, and teach. They are holding a wreath-laying ceremony, and hope to decorate all of the veterans’ graves at Westmond Cemetery with a wreath.
Anyone interested in sponsoring a wreath can contact the group at DARSandpoint@gmail.com
