Spartan boys open season next Tuesday against St. Maries

PRIEST RIVER — The Priest River boys basketball team will begin its run for a second straight state berth when they host St. Maries at 7 p.m. next Tuesday to open the season.
Last season, the Spartans won the 3A District 1 title for the first time since 2011 to punch their ticket to state. Priest River will lean heavily on seniors Travis Mathews, Trentyn Kreager and Blake Barrett this winter under new head coach Jaden Barrett.
