Turkey Trot returns to Travers Park

| November 24, 2021 1:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Turkey Trot is back.

Litehouse YMCA and Sandpoint Parks and Rec are again teaming up for the 13th annual fun run and benefit for the Bonner Community Food Bank.

While the Thanksgiving Day event was virtual in 2020, it's back to an in-person event and Sandpoint officials said the goal is to raise 1,400 pounds of food for those in need in the community.

This low key, untimed event features a 5K, 10K or whatever distance you want to run or walk (no dogs or bikes please). Feel free to dress up, as best hat wins a pie courtesy of the Pie Hut.

This fun run is free with your nonperishable donation to the Bonner Community Food Bank. The event will start at the Travers Park lot (1202 W. Pine St.) at 9 a.m. Please come early to sign a waiver (minors need a parent or guardian signature) and to drop off food donations. The event collects close to 1,000 pounds of food each year.
