NOXON, Mont. — Clark Fork volleyball held on for a five-set victory at Noxon on Thursday night.

The Lady Cats won 25-22, 25-21, 25-27, 20-25, 15-5.

Clark Fork let a chance to sweep the Red Devils slip away, but they stormed back with a dominant fifth set.

"I was glad that they pulled through in that fifth set and just kind of ran away with it," head coach Michelle Valliere said.

Paige Valliere tallied 15 assists and eight aces, Taylor Staley recorded 10 digs and seven kills and Caiya Yanik added nine digs and seven blocks.

"I felt like the girls played fairly well," Valliere said. "Our serve-receive passing wasn't great. Katelyn [Matteson] kind of saved our butts in the back row, so I was glad to have her back there."

Valliere said it was nice to get the girls experience playing in a tightly-contested match.

"If we go to state ... I would imagine if we're going to succeed we're probably going to be going to five sets in those games, so it's good to see them get down and still be able to push through and get that win," she said.

The Lady Cats (9-4) head to Wallace at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Miners handed Clark Fork its first loss of the season on Sept. 21.
