Benefit to aid local first responders

| October 6, 2021 1:00 AM

SMS Auto & Marine wants to celebrate the community's local heroes.

Toward that end, the business is hosting an Oktoberfest benefit on Saturday, Oct. 9, to thank local first responders for all they've done for their community.

"With all the devastating fires we’ve had in recent years, we know that local law enforcement has had their hands full with evacuations and the fire departments were busy making sure everyone had homes left to return to," SMS officials said in an email to the Daily Bee. "We thought this would be a perfect way to pull together as a community in support of our local heroes and safe-keepers!"

The benefit will be held at SMS Auto and Marine, 1217 Washington Ave., from 2-6 p.m. There will be live music by “The Shift,” a rock cover band out of Spokane, a car show, beer and brats for a donation, and multiple giveaways and raffles.

All proceeds will go to local first responders. Admission is free and open to everyone of all ages.

Among the raffle items, which will be available through the month of October, are:

  • A load of gravel, plus free delivery within 10 miles of Sandpoint from Interstate.

  • A tailgate party kit from NAPA and a tool kit with backpack tool bag.

  • A doggie gift basket from Shaka Paw.

  • An Idaho enhanced carry class from Integrity Armory.
