PRIEST RIVER — Priest River volleyball suffered a four-set defeat to Coeur d'Alene Charter on Monday night in the 3A District 1 loser-out match.

The fourth-seeded Spartans fell to the No. 5 Panthers on their home court, 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22.

The two Intermountain League foes split a pair of regular season matches, but Coeur d'Alene Charter gained the upper hand this time to keep its season alive and advance to the district semifinals.

The Spartans played without sophomore middle blocker Allyson Barton, who was sidelined with a concussion. Head coach Meagan Mize said her team certainly missed her presence on the court.

"We matched the slower energy of Charter and it was to our detriment," she said. "The girls all together played well, we just let Charter go on a few serve-receive runs that ended up biting us in the end."

Senior Ona Rose led Priest River with 12 kills, seven aces and four digs. Freshman Desarai Humphrey tallied 15 assists, seven aces, six kills, three digs and a block. Junior Addisen Kingery notched seven kills, sophomore Helena White grabbed six kills and four aces, and junior Abigail Shockey added a team-high five digs.

Juniors Brodie Hansen and Ethnee White combined for five kills and junior Madilyn Rose served three aces.

The Spartans finish the season 2-14, but will only lose one player to graduation.
