Martha Anne Wise, 76

Martha Anne Wise, 76, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Private family services have been held.

Known to family and friends as “Marcy,” she was born on October 27, 1944 in Pacific, WA to Harvey and Patty Haggard. At age 8 Martha moved with her family to Fairbanks, Alaska. She graduated from Lathrop High School in 1962, where she helped as the assistant librarian.

Martha earned her teaching degree from Denver University and began her career teaching for the Denver Public Schools. Martha met Lynn Wise and then attended University of Colorado Denver, where she received her Master’s Degree in Library Science.

Martha and Lynn married on July 30, 1983 in Westminster, CO. After a 30 year career as a teacher and librarian, she retired in 2000. She and Lynn moved to Sandpoint in 2003.

She was a leading contributor to the Spokesman Review GUboards as ZaGranny. She loved Gonzaga Basketball and was a women season ticket holder. She enjoyed the moose around her yard, walking in the woods with her dogs, and collecting Native American Dolls.

She is survived by her husband Lynn Wise of Sandpoint; three sisters Via Anderson of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Carroll Boone of La Mesa, CA, and Courtney Linkous of Fairbanks, AK; step children Harrison Paul and Linda Peterson; four nieces Julie Wendt, Jennifer Carroll, Leslie Frazier and Caitlin McIntosh; and one nephew John Dick.
