Richard William Nadeja, 81

Richard William Nadeja, 81, went to be with Jesus, while surrounded by his wife Mary of 59 years and his family, on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Private family services have been held.

Richard was born on July 26, 1940, in Hubbard, Ohio, the youngest of seven children born to Walter and Gertrude Nadeja. After graduating from Hubbard High School, he served his country in the United States Navy on a tanker, the USS Caloosahatchee.

Richard married Mary Karen Sarahs on August 31, 1962 in Gowanda, New York. He worked for Shenango Steel Mill in Masury, Ohio. The family moved to Sandpoint in 1978 and built their log home. Richard worked for the Laclede Lumber Mill for 30 years, retiring in 2008.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, camping, cooking breakfast, and playing the harmonica with his cousin Dewey. Richard was also actively involved with Dover Community Church. Mostly, he enjoyed being with all of his family, including his extended family whenever possible.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Nadeja of Sandpoint; two daughters, Deborah Spencer of Sandpoint; Denise Nadeja of Grayland, Washington, and Bryan (Tami) Nadeja of Sandpoint; and four granddaughters, twins Paige and Taylor Spencer and Kayla and Kameryn Nadeja. He is also survived by one brother David (Margie) Nadeja of Ringgold, Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Edward and Donald Nadeja; and three sisters, Edna Hopkinson, Nancy Melanson, and Jeanette Kosola.

Richard was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, father-in-law, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
