SANDPOINT — The road to the 4A state championship game runs through Sandpoint.

Sandpoint football claimed the No. 1 seed to the state playoffs in the final MaxPreps rankings released Saturday. With the top spot, the Bulldogs earn the right to host three state playoff games (first round, quarterfinal and semifinal) at War Memorial Field if they make it that far.

No. 1 seed Sandpoint will face No. 16 Mountain Home (3-6) in the first round of the 4A state playoffs.

Sandpoint (5-2) defeated Lakeland 37-10 last night to claim the 4A Region 1 title. The Bulldogs leapfrogged previous No. 1 seed Pocatello (7-2), who beat Century 51-12 in its regular season finale last night.
