Alma M. Bigney, 98

Alma M. Bigney, 98, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 in Sandpoint, Idaho, peacefully with her daughter by her side.

Private family services have been held.

Alma was born on December 26, 1922, in Germany to Heinrich and Minna Wittmer. She met George Bigney while he was serving in Germany during World War II. After the war, Alma moved to the United States and married George. They settled in Pollock Pines, California, she received citizenship in 1964 and then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service.

George died in 1975 and Alma retired in 1987. She then went to college for fun, where she studied photography, dance, and worked as a translator. In 1995 she moved to her home in Talache, Idaho.

She enjoyed taking walks and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Angie (Dan) Baker of Sandpoint; son, Ron Bigney of Oregon; and granddaughter Brenda (Jason) McDonald of Laclede, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Bigney; and a sister, brothers, and family in Germany.
