Oct. 26, 1971 – EAGLES MAKE AWARD

Dan Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Young, and Lynn Hofmeister, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hofmeister, were recent recipients of youth awards from F.O.E. 589. Both are Sandpoint High School students active in the TORCH club, a student group that assists in the rehabilitation of retarded children.

C.F. BONAR IS BACK HOME FOR GOOD

Charles F. Bonar is a newcomer and an old timer in Sandpoint. Bonar, who recently received his real estate salesman license, is employed by the Tifft Agency. Born in the Selle area and raised in Bonner County, he graduated from SHS in 1946 and the U of I in 1952. He has been in management work since, mostly overseas. Back home now to stay, he has purchased the Cody home on Erie and is ready to participate in the active real estate field here.

WOMEN HEAR PROGRAM ON PLANTS, BULBS

Ozzie Vallieres from the House of Flowers gave an interesting talk on plant and bulb care when the Mountain View Extension Club met at the home of Mrs. Everett Hofmeister. Mrs. Jack Woodland was co-hostess. Cookies for Operation Sweettooth were brought by Mrs. David Thurlow and Mrs. Wilma Rae. A rose was sent to Mrs. Earl Wood, who has been ill. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Henry Hansen’s home with Mrs. Swante Bergstrom as co-hostess.

BRACKEN AND DALE TO RUN OLD B&B PLACE

W. W. Bracken and A.W. Dale have partnered to operate the old B. & B. pool hall and lunch counter on First. They call their pool room the B. and D.

Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hadley of 112 N. Boyer are the parents of a girl (Frances Eileen) born Monday.

While trying to crank his car Monday morning, W.S. Finney broke his right wrist as he prepared to leave on a business trip for the C.F. Ewing Co., Ltd.

The Merchants Transfer and Delivery Co. recently opened a feed and sales stable opposite the S.I. depot [Fifth avenue at Cedar street].
