Joyce Iola (Walker) Hartley, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint.
Joyce was born to Harry and Dorotha (Fee) Walker on July 4, 1931, in Burke, South Dakota. Joyce was number four of 14 children. The Walker family moved to Sandpoint when she was 4 years old
Joyce attended Sandpoint schools, was a member of the Class of 1949, and worked downtown at Taft’s store. She was also a member of F.O.E. Sandpoint, Aeries 589
Joyce married Leonard (Gene) Hartley on November 14, 1948, in Superior, Mont. They were married 48 years and had three daughters, Debbie, Janna and Jill. They raised their family in Sandpoint as well as in Polson, Mont.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Chester) Schilling of St. Maries, Idaho, Janna (Mark) Hull, Sandpoint, and Jill (Glen) Harrod of Tampa, Fla.; her grandchildren, Ben (Lindsey) Schilling of Post Falls, Idaho, Laci (Schilling) Brian St. John of St. Maries, Matthew (Kelsey) Hull of Spirit Lake, Idaho, and Cody (Abby) Hull, Post Falls; her great-grandchildren, Reily and Canon St. John of St. Maries, Reed and Landon Schilling of Post Falls, Isla and Ivy Hull of Spirit Lake, and twins Jaxson and Wyatt Hull of Post Falls; sisters, Betty Gonnason, Pat Russell, Nancy Peiffer, and Phyllis Loftis; her sister-in-law, Francis Walker; brother-in-law Robert Hartley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leonard (Gene) Eugene Hartley; her parents, Harry and Dorotha (Fee) Walker; brothers, Herbert, Milton, Warren and Ronald Walker; sisters, Naoma Nelson, Barbara Fister, Caroline Jacobson, Ruth Beyer and Peggy Thurlow; and sister-in-law, Leilani Hartley.
