SANDPOINT — Sandpoint High School will have a Veterans Day drive-through event to honor the community’s veterans.

In the past years, SHS has honored veterans through a special assembly.

However, due to the current pandemic and health concerns, SHS Student Council representatives said they are not able to hold these assemblies in a safe manner for veterans, participants, and students.

“However, the council has been able to plan a way to honor those who have served our country in a manner that is safe for all those in participation,” said Jacob Gove, SHS Student Council member.

In order to overcome these challenges, SHS will be holding a drive through recognition event on Nov. 11. Veterans who are interested in participating will be meeting at 9:30 a.m. First Baptist Church at 1230 Michigan St., and will then be escorted by local police towards the Sandpoint High School parking lot.

Veterans will then drive through the high school parking lot, greeted by students as they drive by.
