Clark Fork volleyball sails past Lakeside in opener

CLARK FORK — The Clark Fork volleyball team hit the court for the first time this season on Thursday and coasted to a three-set victory over Lakeside.

They won 25-5, 25-13, 25-5.

"The girls were a little nervous doing warmups, but as soon as we started playing they were just out on the court having fun," head coach Michelle Valliere said.

Paige Valliere tallied 10 assists, Caiya Yanik served eight aces and had a block, Katelyn Matteson secured four kills and Eloise Shelton added five digs.

Michelle said it was a complete team effort.

"I just felt like everybody did what they were supposed to do," she said.

Michelle couldn't have asked for a better start to the season. The team never lost focus.

"I was super happy," she said. "It seems like every year we play teams that aren't quite at the same level as us and every year I tell the girls, 'Just play our side of the court, don't let what they are doing over there affect us and bring us down,' and this year that actually happened."

Clark Fork (1-0) travels to Genesis Prep at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
