COEUR d'ALENE — After a slow start, Sandpoint girls soccer found its way and secured a commanding 3-0 Inland Empire League victory at Coeur d'Alene on Thursday.

The Bulldogs remain undefeated on the season.

Head coach Conor Baranski said the Vikings controlled the opening 10 minutes of the match, but after that his team settled in and dominated pretty much the rest of the contest.

"That is a really impressive victory," he said.

Baranski said his team won the game in the midfield with stellar play from Piper Frank, Erin Eddy, Kimbo Yarnell and Ashlee Webster.

"They were just literally passing circles around [the Vikings] and finding enough space to play really quality balls through to our forwards," he said.

Senior Kylie Williams scored a pair of goals in the match. The first came on a ball played into the box from about 40 yards out by Kate McGregor in the 25th minute. The second came on a penalty kick in the 53rd minute.

Sierrah VanGesen scored the first goal of the match in the 21st minute on an assist from Frank.

Despite the scoreline, Baranski said it wasn't an easy victory, his players just made it look that way at times with their quality of play.

"It was more of what we've been working on that was missing against Moscow [on Tuesday]," he said.

Baranski said his team had to fight to maintain the shutout and Lilliana Brinkmeier made a huge save on a breakaway to keep a clean sheet. The freshman goalie finished with 10 saves.
