| September 8, 2021 12:10 AM

BONNERS FERRY — Priest River girls soccer held Bonners Ferry scoreless in the final 40 minutes of Tuesday's Intermountain League match. But it wasn't enough as the Spartans fell 7-2.

The Badgers scored seven goals in the first half to gain a stranglehold on the match.

Daryl Hall filled in for head coach Rob Lawler.

"The first half was difficult for them to find their pace," Hall said about the Spartans. "The second half they came out swinging ... and overall there were many improvements and the team stayed positive."

Junior Kiersten Davis and freshman Hadassah Davis scored goals for the Spartans. No further stats were available at press time.

On Friday, the Spartans traveled to the five-time defending 3A state champion Coeur d'Alene Charter Panthers. They lost 15-0 in the IML match. Sophomore Brooklyn Best made nine saves in net.

"Priest River definitely has some athletes and a great goalkeeper," Charter coach Stacy Smith said.

Priest River (0-3-1, 0-2-1 IML) will be looking for its first win of the season when they head to Timberlake on Thursday.
