Loren Kenworthy, 81

Loren Kenworthy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on August 29,2021. Loren was the young age of 81.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sandpoint, Idaho. Graveside services, with honors, will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Loren was born July 11,1940, to Roy and Irene (Holton) Kenworthy in Sandpoint. Loren grew up on the family farm in Kootenai, Idaho.

Loren married Della (Carter) on May 23,1964. Shortly after they started a family, having four children Rodney, Todd, Debbie, and Denise.

After graduation from Sandpoint High School, Loren went into the Army and was stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. Following his release from the Army, Loren worked various oil and mill jobs until finding his true love with Sandpoint Fire Department, where he worked for 25 years.

He spent many hours helping Boy Scouts get their merit badges. No one could ever tie a knot like Loren, but in turn, he could always untangle his daughters’ necklaces with ease.

After retirement from the fire department, Loren worked various jobs, including just to mention a few, ITD, IFM on fire watch and so many little side jobs.

We could never touch on all the things Loren did for and in his small community that he loved so much.

Loren had another love besides fire. Loren loved hunting and fishing, and every year in October took a trip down on Kelly Creek to hunt with family and or friends. Loren never missed his hunting trip and always came back with meat for the table to provide for his family. Loren was an excellent provider and taught his children to work hard and to give back to their communities as well.

Loren is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Irene; his brother, Norman; and numerous cousins who were like siblings to him.

Loren is survived by his wife of 57 years, Della; his sister, Wendy (Norbert) Edwardson; and his four children, Rodney Kenworthy, Todd Kenworthy, Debbie Medina-Lopez, and Denise Kin.

Loren was also blessed to have eight grandchildren, who survive him as well. Loren had many special friends he leaves behind, too numerous to name.

The family would like to thank Bonner General Hospice for helping them through the end stages of Loren’s life. Their support was very comforting.
