Daily Bee closing for golf tournament

| September 15, 2021 1:00 AM

Area golfers will be hitting the links to help local youth connect to the world as the first Newspapers in Education golf tourney kicks off at 12:30 p.m.

The Daily Bee office will be closed to allow staff to assist at the golf tournament.

The tournament offers a chance to play the Jack Nicklaus-designed Idaho Club, with dinner by the club's renowned restaurant, and access to a silent auction. But the best part — golfers will ensure local students in the Lake Pend Oreille and West Bonner County school districts have access to their local newspaper as part of the Newspapers in Education program.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will help ensure every teacher in the local school districts has access to history — whether on the local level or the national and international stage — as it happens.

Hosted by the Bonner County Daily Bee, the cost of the tournament is $150 per golfer, $520 for a foursome, and $55 for just the dinner. There will be a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start.
