The truth? The mayor just wants your money

While wringing hands about the affordability of Sandpoint and in the face of historical inflation, our mayor's answer is to raise taxes due to a "health crisis?"

Ramming a local option tax through city council to a November vote in hopes of getting potential funding from an as-yet unapproved federal infrastructure bill?

This is not sound fiscal policy and will be a burden on the residents - the ones he's so concerned about. What will the funds be used for? That's up for debate, more infrastructure, something else to maintain. Then there's the justification; I'm surprised the mayor didn't cite any of the more pressing social injustices facing us today, but "health?" C'mon man, be more creative...
