NIC Trustees Wood and Howard resign
North Idaho College trustees Christie Wood and Ken Howard have announced their resignation from the NIC Board of Trustees, effective May 3.
Wood and Howard delivered to the college today a letter detailing the reasons for their upcoming departure. Their exit will leave just two trustees, Todd Banducci and Greg McKenzie, and thus, the NIC board will be unable to function without a quorum. The State Board of Education is expected to step in to appoint three new trustees.
Idaho State Board of Education Executive Director Matt Freeman issued the following statement in response to today’s announced resignations of two North Idaho College Trustees:
“Idaho Code provides that the State Board of Education shall fill vacancies if there are two or fewer trustees remaining on a community college board. The State Board will soon release an announcement seeking applications from residents of each of the soon-to be vacant community college trustee zones at North Idaho College.
The Board will look to the process used to create the inaugural Board of Trustees at the College of Eastern Idaho in 2017.
In that search, an ad-hoc committee comprised of three Board members, evaluated candidates and made recommendations to the full Board who then approved appointments for each trustee zone.
The appointed trustees will serve until the next trustee election in November.”
This is a developing story.
