A look ahead: Finally, a busy week

For the first time in a long time, we have a loaded slate for high school sports.

Following some uneventful weeks due to postponements and cancellations as well as spring break, the high school sports calendar has returned to normal.

There are 18 scheduled events for the week between the three high schools. Sandpoint’s softball team will be the busiest of the bunch with three games, two of which are doubleheaders.

The Bulldogs will go on the road against two 5A Inland Empire League teams, Lake City and Post Falls, and will play their home opener against Bonners Ferry.

The Bulldogs start off its schedule against the T-Wolves today in a doubleheader at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs haven’t played since March 26, when they competed in the WTP tournament at Vallivue High School.

Sandpoint dropped four games at the tourney and will come into its game against the T-Wolves 0-4.

Lake City comes into the doubleheader 1-4 on the season, with its only victory coming against Sandpoint’s league foe Moscow on Saturday, April 9, 11-4.

On Thursday, Sandpoint will face off against Bonners Ferry at 3 p.m., which will be the Bulldogs home opener.

The Badgers are currently winless through eight games.

Sandpoint will wrap up its busy week against Post Falls on Saturday at noon. The game will be a doubleheader.

The Trojans are currently sitting in second place in the 5A Inland Empire League with a 7-3 overall record.

The Sandpoint baseball team will be at home this week for its two games against Lake City and Post Falls.

The Bulldogs have only played three games so far this season, sitting at 2-1 overall. They’ll have a chance to add to their win total on Tuesday at Memorial Field at 2 p.m. against Lake City, which is entering the game 2-5 overall.

Its game against Post Falls at noon on Saturday will be a test for the Bulldogs.

The Trojans are 9-3 and have won five out of their last six games.

The Sandpoint tennis team looks to continue its impressive run with another league match against Lakeland at 2 p.m. today..

The Bulldogs won its first league match of the season against Moscow 9-3.

On Saturday, the Bulldogs tennis team will be back in action against Coeur d’Alene.

So far, the Bulldogs are 1-1 against 5A Inland Empire League teams. They beat Post Falls 7-5 and fell to Lewiston 9-2.

The Sandpoint golf team will be back in action after a long hiatus against Coeur d’alene at 9 a.m.

Clark Fork has been able to get its feet wet with competition and will have some normalcy in its schedule following this week.

The track team will head to the Kellogg invitational at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

The Wampus Cats have nearly doubled its roster size from a year ago and had several athletes perform well in its first meet of the season in Bonners Ferry on Saturday, March 26.

Finally, the Clark Fork tennis duo will get its first taste of action at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Lewiston High School.
