Vote for a candidate with a conscience
I recently read a newspaper article entitled “Hoodoo Valley rezone denied.” I was ecstatic, because that rezone approval by the Bonner County commissioners opened the door to some 300 other rezone requests by property owners in Bonner County, which have universally been approved.
The interesting thing about the article is the quote from Commissioner Jeff Connolly, that “he could not in good conscience vote to approve the Comprehensive Plan amendment …”
I happen to know that when this subdivision was voted on last fall, Commissioner Steve Bradshaw voted against it. In order for it to pass, two commissioners, which would include Connolly, would have had to vote for it. I’m wondering where Connolly’s “good conscience” was then? Or where it was when he voted to approve a large telecommunications facility on zoned agricultural land in Selle Valley, calling it a “solar panel?” Or when he voted to give acres of county property adjacent to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office facility away to the fairgrounds for $1? Or when he voted to approve those 300 land rezone/splits?
Has Connolly suddenly found a conscience now that he is up for reelection in May? Will he use that "good conscience" to vote against a proposed code amendment on May 11 that will change Title 12 again so that rezones will be permanently legal?
Please, on May 17, vote for a candidate that has a conscience all the time: conservative, constitutional, Christian, Asia Williams, for District 2 county commissioner.
