Robert Leroy Munts

Robert Leroy Munts passed away on March 23, 2022, in Colville, Washington.

He was born on June 27, 1932, in Sweet Home, Oregon, to Glenn and Lydia Munts. After finishing high school in Polson, Montana, in 1951 he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean and Vietnam wars and in peace time. He was a cook in the Pacific fleet where he served on several cargo ships.

He married Marilyn Grinder in 1960 and moved to Spokane in 1969 to complete vocational training in appliance repair. He then moved with his family to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1971. He owned and operated Rainbow Appliance Repair until his retirement in the mid-1990s. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling and helping those around him. Even after the Navy he enjoyed to cook and to spoil those around him with his baked goods, especially his famous peanut brittle. He was active in his church throughout his life where he made many friends and touched many lives.

In 2019 he moved to Colville to be with his family.

He is survived by his son, Phil of Grand Coulee, Washiington; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tammy Munts of Colville; and daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Richard Mahaney of Meridian, Idaho; and grandchildren, Hunter, Natasha, and Anastasia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn (1982) and Lydia Munts (1993); and his wife, Marilyn (1996); his second wife, Ruth (2016); and daughter-in-law, Juliene (2021).

There will be a memorial service at the Sandpoint Church of the Nazarene, 477954 Highway 95, in Ponderay on April 23, 2022, at 11 a.m.
