Sandpoint News-Bulletin

April 21, 1972 – KALB CHAIRS IFG

Sandpoint businessman and avid sportsman Bob Kalb is chairman of the Idaho State Fish and Game Board of Commissioners this year. Also a member of Sandpoint’s City Council, he is the only businessman on the commission. His election as chairman is a testimony to what the other commission members think of Kalb, who joined the board in July of 1969.

GARDEN CLUB OBSERVES ANNIVERSARY

The Sandpoint Garden Club’s 25th anniversary was noted at Monday’s meeting in the WWP auditorium. In 1947, a group of gardeners met in the home of Mrs. Frances Sleep on Lakeshore Drive and decided to form a garden club. The club has no dues. A 10 cent silver offering is taken and, from this small sum, the club has supported several civic projects, twice donating $50 to the Sandpoint Lions Club for beach improvements. New officers are president Margie Kalb and vice president Elsie Bollacker. Bernice Pierce was re-elected secretary-treasurer. Outgoing president is Lillian Bourbon; outgoing vice president, Hazel Moon.

Pend d’Oreille Review

April 21, 1922 – COLDS

Colds following “The Flu,” recurrent colds and lower vitality accompanied by cough, bronchitis and other catarrhal symptoms cause much ill health and serious consequences. These conditions respond readily to inhalations of Oxygen-Vapor in the form of “Ozone.” I have installed an Oxygen-Vapor Generator to treat these conditions and know it to be a remarkable treatment for respiratory disorders. Dr. Floyd Wendle, 318 First Ave. Hours 9-12; 1-5 daily, except Sundays.

CHANGES EFFECTIVE NEXT YEAR

Auto mechanics will be cut out of the manual training course, domestic science and manual training will be taught in the high school grades only, and the city schools will get along without a school nurse next year, according to action of the school board at its monthly meeting. With these and a contemplated saving on bus hire for next year, the expenses of running the schools will be curtailed by $4950.

PUTTING STREETS IN SHAPE

The city streets are being put into shape at a minimum of municipal expense, using teams donated by the Sandpoint Lumber & Pole company, the Humbird Lumber company and other firms, the county’s grader and tractor, and the city’s tractor. Remarkable achievements have been secured. Most of the streets have been well crowned and ditched and are in better conditions at present than for some time.
