LPOHS Mother’s Day flower sale turns 20
Can you believe it’s been 20 years? The annual Mother’s Day petunia baskets go on sale Monday, May 2, at Lake Pend Oreille High School, 1005 N. Boyer Ave., in Sandpoint.
The flower baskets, which are $25 each, are started in early April by the students in Randy Wilhelm’s classes and prepped for the Mother’s day sale. In addition, the students are selling pansies, marigolds, coleus, zinnias, and geraniums.
Closer to Memorial Day weekend, the students will have Early Girl and tomatillo tomatoes, zucchini, bell peppers and a few other things for sale and ready for spring planting.
The profits from this year’s sale is going toward installing a concrete floor and drainage system to the greenhouse this summer. The greenhouse is open 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Other times available upon request.
The baskets usually sell out before Mother’s Day, so early purchase is encouraged, Wilhelm said.
"Lake Pend Oreille High School is very grateful for the continued support of the community.
