C6-Zero: We seek to be good neighbor

A recent letter to the editor (“Stop the refinery, save the Kootenai River,” Aug 11) submitted by Suzanne Glasoe is filled with fabrications and misinformation. Allow C6-Zero to correct the record from the top down. 

First, C6-Zero did not “silently” take up life in Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry. We leased office space in Sandpoint to serve as our corporate headquarters in March, very publicly engaged in the community at local shops, restaurants, and hotels. In Sandpoint, we have hired staff for various corporate functions. In Bonners Ferry we have leased a facility where we have a small team fabricating metal equipment, nothing more. 

Second, C6-Zero is not a refiner of oil. Never claimed to be and never will be. C6-Zero repurposes used roofing shingles purchased from roofing companies and other vendors. In doing so, we take a product that otherwise would end up in landfills and repurpose it in a carbon negative way for the good of our environment.  

Third, there are no plans for a manufacturing facility in Bonners Ferry or anywhere else in Idaho. Our operations are limited to business functions in Sandpoint and metal fabrication in Bonners Ferry.

Fourth, because we are not a refiner, there were never plans to store or truck petroleum through “the streets of the small town.” This is false. 

Fifth, C6-Zero never operated in Colorado. We strive for transparency, so we note that there were initial attempts to find a manufacturing site, but those efforts failed due to lack of clear regulations and a desire to pursue business opportunities elsewhere.  

Sixth, anyone is welcome to visit our website (www.C6-Zero.com) for additional information about our process which, as we note, is proprietary. C6-Zero does not have a patent, though for more than a year we have been in a patent-pending process.  

Seventh, C6-Zero operates a manufacturing facility in another state, which from used roofing shingles produces clean fiberglass, aggregate, and petroleum that becomes a high-grade biofuel. We are well past R&D and have met with all appropriate regulators in the state, just as we have engaged with regulators here in Idaho and continue to do so.  

Summing up, beyond correctly identifying the flow of the Kootenai River, not a single statement made by Ms. Glasoe is accurate. She is unknown to our company, has never attempted to discuss our operations in Idaho with us, and has no knowledge of our business plans. 

Her letter was not one of opinions that could be up for debate or interpretation. It is one filled with fabricated statements intended to defame C6-Zero. Facts are facts; this is not about one’s “truth” or perspective. The Bee could easily have confirmed this by simply contacting C6-Zero. It did not. Instead, it allowed misinformation to be spread further in communities where we seek to be a good, transparent corporate neighbor and employer.
