New Dollar General location in Sagle

SAGLE – A new Dollar General location has opened in the community.

Located at 78 Sagle Road, the business opened earlier this month. . To mark the occasion the company plans to host a grand opening community celebration on Saturday, Aug. 20, at 11 a.m.

Dollar General expanded into the Gem State with its first store in Athol in March 2022, which increased the company’s presence to 47 states. The Sagle store is just it's second in Idaho, with several others planned, including one under construction in Priest River. Slated for a fall 2022 opening Juan Galindo, Dollar General’s district manager of store operations, said the company is actively evaluating additional future locations in Idaho.

“We are thrilled to expand Dollar General’s affordable access to household essentials to Bonner County,” Galindo said.

The grand opening will feature complimentary $10 gift cards and DG tote bags with product samples to the first 100 adult customers. The event will also include Sagle Elementary School principal Christine Davis at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, who will receive 100 new books to benefit the school’s library as part of the grand opening.

“Through our mission of serving others, we remain committed to serving as a good corporate citizen by increasing affordable access to household essentials, providing career development and education opportunities for employees, and supporting education through Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants. We look forward to meeting Sagle customers and community members at our grand opening celebration this Saturday,” Galindo said.

Furthermore, Galindo said DG strives to be a good neighbor and is committed to the communities it serves, evidenced by the unwavering support of literacy and education initiatives through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. Schools, nonprofit organizations, and libraries within a 15-mile radius of the store can apply for Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants. In addition to the DGLF that the community will now have access to, teachers will also be able to utilize another DG program, its teacher discount. Educators may take advantage of the promotion by registering and completing an educator verification process online https://bit.ly/3pj9AA7. With this advantage, teachers receive a discount on up to four purchases of back to school supplies. DG is also looking to help teachers stay organized by creating an online Teacher’s Central to help educators shop for supplies and find inspiration for classrooms.

Dollar General plans to create new jobs in the community as the store is expected to employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on the store's needs. Galindo said the company offers competitive wages, a 401k, and many other benefits.
