LACLEDE — A Bonner County man has passed away from injuries received in an Aug. 6 accident, Idaho State Police said.

The man passed away on Aug. 12. His next of kin has been notified.

ISP officials said the driver of a 2005 Honda Pilot was stopped westbound on U.S. 2 at Westwood Drive to turn south when the Laclede man, 89, who was driving a 1982 Chevy El Camino, was unable to stop and struck the rear of the Honda Pilot.

The Honda Pilot was occupied by a 55-year-old female and a 63-year-old male out of Spokane, Wash., and both were wearing seatbelts.

The Laclede resident, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was airlifted to an area hospital due to his injuries.

Traffic on the highway was blocked both directions for approximately three hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved.

Alcohol was not a factor.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
