Casey David Banks, 44

Casey David Banks was born on June 1, 1978, in Newport, Wash., to David and Patricia (Stevens) Banks. He moved to Sandpoint, Idaho at an early age.

He started kindergarten at the old Lincoln Elementary School and continued on through local schools until attending Sandpoint High School.

Casey loved and adored his daughter Bree. He loved all children and they loved him and he was especially close to his nephew and his two nieces.

Casey loved sports and was a gifted athlete. He was competitive and did not like to lose but he was also a good sport. He didn’t know a sport that he didn’t like. He could cite sports statistics off the top of his head and if you needed any kind of fantasy sports league organized and managed, Casey was the one to do it.

He was a good and loyal teammate. He played Striker soccer and high school Bulldog baseball. He won an MVP award and twice won the batting average title. He also played on the Babe Ruth All-Star team that took third place at the Idaho State Tournament. He was a first baseman and a left-handed pitcher that didn’t have a blazing fast ball but preferred to throw a lot of junk. He was a power hitter and really good at getting on base.

Casey was a food lover as well. He enjoyed both eating and cooking and he was good at both. He often took photos of his culinary artwork and texted them to his mother. They would compare their food photos. He liked the outdoors and although he didn’t have the best of luck fishing, he did enjoy it.

Casey had worked in a variety of blue-collar construction jobs for most of his life. But in 2013 he went back to North Dakota for the first time to work in the oil fields. He got a temporary job right away and then landed a full-time job with Key Energy Services. He worked there for three years until his life path took him in a different direction.

He returned to the oil fields in North Dakota last year as he felt that was his calling and the place where he belonged. At the time of his death Casey had recently returned to work for Key Energy Services and was thrilled to be back with them. His primary occupation was derrick hand on a workover rig and he was very good at it.

Casey passed away on Aug. 1, 2022, in Williston, N.D., at the age of 44. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Larry Stevens and his grandmother, Faye Stevens-Lamoreaux.

Casey is survived by his parents, David and Patty (Stevens) Banks of Sandpoint, Idaho; biological daughter Bree Reardon of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; brother, Benjamin Banks of Sandpoint; brother, Joseph Banks of Sandpoint; a half-sister, Bryna Banks of Spokane, Wash.; nephew, Brendan Banks of Priest River, Idaho; niece, Molly Banks of Priest River; and niece Bailey Banks of Boise, Idah;, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Casey was a good son, brother, uncle, and friend. All those who knew and loved him will miss his big heart, his big smile, and his big laugh.
