If you're a veteran and want to start your own business, North Idaho College can help.

North Idaho College’s Office of Entrepreneurship can help give veteran-owned businesses an edge with the NIC Veteran Business Accelerator, college officials said.

The program is a free four-week course designed to give veterans and their families the skills to launch new businesses, grow existing operations and develop strategic plans for success.

The Tuesday and Thursday classes are from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. They start, Tuesday, Sept. 27, and run through Thursday, Oct. 20 in the Bob and Leona DeArmond Building on NIC’s main campus in Coeur d’Alene.

Space is limited, and registration is open at NICVeteranAcademy.eventbrite.com.

The program is open to all current and past members of the U.S. military, military spouses and children of active service members or veterans. Participants will learn as a cohort, make new business connections and learn from other successful entrepreneurs in the military community as they hone their business skills. Topics include business finances, franchising, leadership, ownership and transitioning from the military to becoming a veteran business owner.

The course includes 15 hours of in-person instruction from Josh King of Tinderbox Marketing, guest presentations from regional veteran-owned businesses and opportunities to connect with other veteran entrepreneurs in the fall 2022 cohort. Registered participants will also receive all course materials and two business leadership books.

NIC’s Office of Entrepreneurship has offered the Veteran Business Accelerator since the spring 2022 semester through the college’s Venture Network.
