Pend d’Oreille Review

Aug. 28, 1922 – TO GRAVEL FIFTH

At the city council’s rather brief session Monday, there was discussion of a compromise with the county upon its $1500 bill for graveling S. Euclid avenue; and of the proposition of graveling Fifth avenue from Cedar street to Larch, the route to be followed by the North and South highway coming into the city limits. Mayor Wheelan said the county agreed to accept $1250 in payment of the Euclid graveling bill provided the city would expend the $250 difference in graveling and otherwise improving Fifth avenue where it is followed by the highway. The council discussed various means of surfacing the street but no action was taken.

CITY GARAGE AT TOP SPEED

So far in August, the City garage has delivered four carloads of Fords, 29 in number, and three or four Dodges, all they could get from the factory. Another carload of Fords is due next week, almost all of which have already been ordered for immediate delivery, and several more Dodges are being awaited. Mr. Jaeger was surprised to find improvements on the last Ford shipment from the factory, no announcement having been previously made. They include a compact, easily handled “one-man top” and a slanting windshield. All new Fords will have these improvements.
