Bulldogs win by 75 against East Valley

Sandpoint was on a mission from the very beginning. Kelsey Cessna scored 13 points for the Bulldogs, totaling more than half of Sandpoint's total baskets in the first quarter.
“Kelsey Cessna’s scoring is on fie,” head coach Will Love said.
The rest of the points were spread among Daylee Driggs, Alexa Tunistra, Aliya Strock, and Karli Banks who also contributed to Sandpoint’s lead. The Bulldogs were able to hold East Valley to and impressive 25-0 in the first.
Sandpoint continued to move the ball around well into the second quarter and showed their depth in scoring potential with Banks sinking 10 points.
“We’ve prided ourselves on our defense these last few years,” Love said. “Now that we're able to do some things offensively, especially with those four girls who are hitting double figures, it helps out a lot.”
East Valley scored their first basket with six minutes to go in the second quarter. Heading into halftime, Sandpoint led 48-2.
The Bulldogs kept their momentum into the third quarter. Daylee Driggs scored the first basket with a textbook layup. Driggs was also impressive on defense covering East Valley’s best player.
“We’re starting to understand our rotations, and the principles of our defense,” Love said.
Tunistra sunk a pair of free throws to kick off the fourth quarter. Lily Richardson followed it up with her fifth basket of the night. The Bulldogs showed their stamina and played aggressively right up until the final buzzer.
“It was a real team effort out there,” Love said. “Anytime they were able to drive, there was a kid there to help.”
The final score was 77-2 with an impressive Bulldog win.
“It was nice to have these two games to work some of the wrinkles out,” Love said.
Coming up this week the Bulldogs play two league games on the road, one against Coeur D’Alene and the other against Post Falls.
