City residents: city hall has already received a couple of requests this winter to have frozen water pipes thawed. Please let your faucets run a thin stream whenever the mercury drops low. A stream about the size of a pencil is just right, city clerk Doug Hooper said.

Now on duty in Priest River is new Idaho State Patrolman Chris Yount. He replaced Mike Sutton, transferred to the Sandpoint area.

Spruce trees stolen

Ralph Veltri reported to police that two beautiful eight-foot blue spruce trees in his front yard were cut down and hauled away during the night. Another blue spruce, a five-to-six-foot specimen growing in the yard of Mike Veltri, was also taken.

Glen Snider was elected president of the Chamber of Commerce Dec. 3, and Laurence Nelson vice president.

Church celebrating anniversary

The Community Congregational church of Priest River will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the dedication of its building on Dec. 14.

Game warden reports

Game warden Costello reports he checked 152 hunters Sunday, Nov, 22. Twenty-six had in their possession whitetail bucks and nine whitetail does. Many deer are being brought into Priest River, and some are being shipped out. One was shipped to California.

Camp meat house robbed

The meat house at the E.C. Olson camp was robbed Thursday night, the thieves getting away with a considerable amount of provisions. The merchandise taken included three cases of eggs, 75 pounds of butter, 50 pounds of ham, 5 pounds of bacon, 90 pounds of lard and a quantity of cheese. Meat was passed up, and no clues are available as to the identity of the guilty parties.
