Grace Brixen, 76

Grace A. Brixen passed away at her home Friday, Dec. 2. She was 76 years old.

Grace was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1945, the 10th of 12 children in the Nordgaarden family. She met her husband, Steve Brixen, at Sandpoint High School in 1963.

Shortly after their marriage in 1965, they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. After Steve graduated from the University of Hawaii, they moved to Boston, Mass., in 1970. Missing their extended families and beautiful North Idaho, they returned to Sandpoint in 1973 and stayed put, raising their family here.

Grace was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend. She loved God and was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church. She was an avid quilter, gardener and volunteer. She adored yoga and her classmates. Though home was her favorite place, she managed to visit five continents.

She is survived by her husband; her son, Scott; her daughter, Jennifer; and six grandchildren, Reese, Paige, Tai, Logan, Drake and Kiva.

Her memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 1 p.m. Her family requests that — in lieu of gifts or flowers — donations be made to First Lutheran Church or the Bonner Community Food Center.
