The Wampus Cats win by double
The Wampus Cats battled hard in the first eight minutes against Mullan as Clark Fork went on to win 38-16.
Emily Myers with two rebounds, Lilly Reyter with four and Hannah Thompson with two all contributed on the boards.
“We came out strong in the first quarter,” head coach Jordan Adams said.
At the end of the first quarter, Clark Fork was down 10-8.
Amari Printz-Hay had steal after steal. Reuter hit a 3-pointer and Thompson added a few more points. Eloise Shelton and Savannah Weymouth got on the board for the first time that evening.
“Amari had so many steals, she played phenomenal,” Adams said.
Clark Fork held Mullan to zero points in the second quarter and took the lead 19-10 heading into the halftime.
Although Mullan doesn’t have a deep bench coach Adams knew that they had two standout players who were going to give the Wampus Cats a run for their money.
Clark Fork was able to hold Mullan to three points and scored nine of their own.
“Emily Meyers had so many tipped and blocked shots,” Adams said. “I would’ve been nervous to play against her.”
Heading into the final quarter, the Wampus Cats were up 28-13.
The fourth quarter played out similar to the third quarter. Clark Fork was able to hold Mullan to three points again and scored another 10 of their own.
“The girls had a good time and they played a good game,” Adams said.
Up next, the Wampus Cats play Priest River on Friday in the Spartan Tournament.
