Sign up for youth night racing at Schweitzer
Schweitzer is again hosting night racing for youth ages 6 to 16.
The series is a low-cost ski racing opportunity for both experienced and new racers that offers kids a chance to meet others with the same interests. The main emphasis is on introducing fun of ski racing to youth.
Racers will meet at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, for the first session, during which participants will receive coaching, get to practice on a race course and take two timed NASTAR runs.
Subsequent sessions will be held 5:30-7 p.m. on Jan. 13, 20 and 27, all of which are Fridays.
Each racer and coach will take two NASTAR runs on these days. Team results will be based on each participant’s best run of the series.
It’s OK to miss a day, so don’t miss out on the fun even if you can’t make every session. Racers missing a day will have their original seeding handicap included in their team’s daily results, without penalty.
The series ends after racing on Jan. 27 with T-shirts, awards, prizes and an all-you-can-eat ice cream party in the Lakeview Lodge. Cost is $45.
Registration forms are available at Schweitzer, in all public schools and in the Alpine Shop.
Registration must be submitted by Jan. 1.
