The Bulldogs came out with good energy and put Timberlake on their heels, as Sandpoint claimed a dominating 68-34 win.

“We were able to get out in transition and get some easy baskets,” Sandpoint coach Brian Childs said.

Max Frank was on good form hitting just about everything in the first quarter, Childs said. Frank scored eight points in the first and 14 points overall for the Bulldogs.

“Max was really good tonight,” Childs said. “We need to find another place to get points and I think Max is capable.”

Sandpoint played through their bench and was rewarded with big plays from Emrick Jones and Ty Eacret. Jones scored five points in the first quarter and Eacret scored six points in the second. Eacret hitting 4-5 from the free throw line.

“Those guys came in and gave us some good minutes,” Childs said.

Heading into halftime, Sandpoint was up by a comfortable 46-18.

While the first two quarters fell in Sandpoint's favor, the Bulldogs would probably like to forget the third quarter as they went from a 46-point half to a six-point quarter. The Bulldogs were 4-23 from the three-point line overall but still kept a good margin over Timberlake.

“If we want to get to where we want to be, we have to shoot the ball better,” Childs said.

Frank and Rusty Lee kept the ball rolling in the third, but Timberlake held the Bulldogs to six points and outscored them by five.

“I don’t think it was a letdown of effort,” Childs said. “I think they raised their level of play.”

The Bulldogs held their lead 46-18 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lee had his best scoring quarter of the game, hitting seven points and helping Sandpoint got back on into its scoring ways, pulling Dalen Williams and Sage Medeiros into the game.

Sandpoint heads to Lewiston early Saturday for an away game. The Bulldogs will then put their focus toward the Hawaii tournament.
