William (Bill) L. Clayeux, 85, passed away Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022, in Spokane, Wash.

Private family services have been held.

Bill was born Sept. 9, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo., to Albert and Margaret Clayeux. After graduating from Las Vegas High School, he served in the United States Navy on the destroyer USS Brown in the Pacific Fleet through the early ‘60s stationed in San Diego, Calif.

In 1961, he married Gayle Griffith (St. Helens, Ore.). They had two children, Ryan and Trina. After the Navy, Bill moved to California until 1973, when he moved the family to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He worked for Idaho Forest Industries for 25-plus years.

After retiring in 1999, he built a cabin and moved to Naples, Idaho, (Fall Creek) where he enjoyed a life alongside his partner, Barb Helbach, until his 80s. Unfortunately, he began to decline with dementia until his passing.

Bill was hard-working, enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting and four-wheeling, as well as spending time with family and friends. He loved anything country and western. He would always go the extra mile for his neighbors and friends. He is survived by his son, Ryan (Rita) Clayeux of Meridian, Idaho; daughter, Trina Clayeux (Rasheed Bellamy) of Raleigh, N.C.; granddaughter, Riley Clayeux of Boise, Idaho; and partner, Barb Helbach of Sandpoint, Idaho.
