Dec. 25, 1972 – BCHS SELLS CALENDARS

Bonner County Historical Society is selling calendars with early day pictures of the area. Paul Croy contributed the verse and the cover art work is by Tom Olson. Contributing to this campaign are First Federal Savings and Loan, Alpine Shop, Dale Coffelt, Pack River Properties, Nieman’s Music and Floral, and a group of realty firms. BCHS hopes to raise enough money to finance a county museum by 1976, the national bicentennial.

BIG STEER ON DISPLAY

The Bonner Meat company offers a Bonner Brand ham to the person guessing nearest the correct weight of its annual Christmas steer, now hung up in the shop at First avenue and Pine street. The steer was brought in by Oscar and Charles Turnbull of Sagle and sold at 6½ cents per pound. It weighed 1440 pounds, bringing them $93.60. Phill Willi of Bonner Meat states it is the best steer ever sold on the local market and shows what can be accomplished with right stock raising and breeding methods. The Turnbull brothers have been uniformly successful in beef cattle ventures.

TO CLOSE DEAL FOR LAKE FRONT PARK

New copies of the deed and lease to lake front property were received from the N.P. railway at Monday’s city council meeting. Mayor Wheelan was authorized by the board to complete the transaction by which the city will gain the use of the waterfront, east of the railway and south from the city dock to the long railway bridge, for use as a city park.
