Close call for Bulldogs at Punahou Invite
The Bulldogs came up just shot of winning their third game in the Punahou Invite, falling to Kamehameha, 57-53 on Thursday.
Rusty Lee hit 18 points and Parker Childs sank 10, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Kamehameha.
“It was good for us to play against an opponent that has a lot of speed and quickness,” Childs said. “We haven’t seen a lot of that.”
The Bulldogs were playing catch-up from the get-go with Kamehameha dictating the rhythm of the game. Sandpoint was down 33-31 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Bulldogs scored 22 points and worked to slow their opponent, keeping them to 24 points.
“We gave ourselves a chance right up until the buzzer,” Childs said.
The final score was 57-53, with Kamehameha coming out on top. Sandpoint will play in their final game of the tournament against ‘Iolani School from Honolulu on Friday at 4 p.m. PST.
