Dave and his family moved to Polson, Mont., when the logging industry dropped. Later, Dave spent a few years hauling pipe to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. Then, off to Grand Rapids, Mich., hauling for a company and working for Giar and Sons. While in Michigan, Dave graduated from Jordon College with a business and computer degree.

Dave and Rose moved back to Sandpoint and he started his own company long-hauling, R&D Trucking. Dave bought his parents' home on Dufort Road in 1997 (where he grew up). He later drove “pilot cars” for oversize loads, retiring in 2017.

Dave was a member of the Sandpoint Lions Club. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, mowing his yard, plowing snow and reminiscing with friends.
