Daily Bee welcomes Trevan Pixley
I always loved playing sports as a kid, but as I got older, I realized I wasn’t very athletic. But I was able to talk about sports for hours.
I could tell you who led the NFL in rushing yards in 2005 (Shaun Alexander), but I could never get on the field in high school.
So once I got older, I became realistic and decided that writing and talking about sports was my direction in life.
My name is Trevan Pixley and I’m the new sports reporter of the Bonner County Daily Bee.
I began my journalism career at Lewiston High School at our high school publication “the Bengals Purr.”
After graduation, I began working part-time at the Lewiston Tribune as a sports stringer. The extent of the job included answering phone calls from coaches, recording stats, and editing pages.
By 22, I was moved into a full-time position covering area high schools.
As I stated above, my love of sports doesn’t stop when the paper goes out, I'm an avid sports fan.
My favorite teams are the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Growing up in Idaho, everyone is a Seahawks and Mariners fan, so I wanted to be different. What’d that get me? Heartbreak.
Jacksonville has been good once during my fandom, and Toronto has had flashes of mediocrity but has been mostly disappointing in my 23 years of life.
When I’m not writing about sports, talking about sports, or reading about sports, I like to spend time with my lovely girlfriend Arianna.
She made the move with me to Sandpoint and she'll be going to school at North Idaho Massage Academy to become a masseuse.
You’ll typically find us at a restaurant eating some delicious food or in front of a TV with a DoorDash order binge-watching some sort of cheesy reality TV show.
I’m very excited to give the Daily Bee, the area schools, and athletes all that I have!
