Ken was born on December 14, 1928 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Gladys Yoder. After graduating high school, Ken moved to Quincy, Pennsylvania, to attend Eastern Nazarene College where he received a degree in mathematics. While attending Eastern Nazarene College, Ken met Marjorie Bradley. They married shortly after graduating college in 1950.

Ken and Marjorie had a daughter, Patricia Lee born in Boston, Massachusetts, while Ken was taking graduate courses at Harvard. The family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida, in 1954 where Ken taught high school math. While in Florida, they had two sons, Robert Bradley, and James Kennon. In 1960, Ken moved his family to Pasadena, California. Ken spent the next 25 years teaching high school in the Pasadena School District, and later, classes for teaching math to future educators at UCLA. Ken also completed two masters’ degrees in mathematics and math education from University of North Carolina and UCLA, respectively.

During these years, Ken expressed his love of nature through family vacations, camping, water skiing, and Jeeping trips though the deserts of California and Baja Mexico. He was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena, California.

Though Marjorie and Ken went their separate ways, he later met and married Adrianne Roth on June 19, 1977 in Pasadena. While in Pasadena, Ken and Adrianne had a daughter, Jodie Rebecca. They moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 1980 where Ken took a job teaching mathematics at Northwest Nazarene University where he worked until he retired in 2007.

While in Nampa, Ken and Adrianne had two more daughters, Kendall Anne, and Hayley Marie. Ken remained an active member of The Church of the Nazarene, enjoying participating in the Easter musical “No Greater Love” for over 20 years and teaching Sunday school to children. He continued to pursue all his outdoor interests, hunting, camping, skiing, and taking his family out into nature as often as possible.

In 2016, Ken and Adrianne moved to Sandpoint to be closer to their daughter Kendall and her family. Ken will be remembered for his generous and kind spirit, love for the Lord, nature, and teaching mathematics for 55 years. Though all his children and grandchildren were his favorite adventure and the light of his life.

Ken is survived by his wife, Adrianne Yoder of Sandpoint; two sons, Jim (Constance) Yoder of Los Angeles, California, and Bob Yoder of Vernal, Utah; three daughters, Jodie (Tim) Burling of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Kendall (Kyle) Yake of Sandpoint, and Hayley (Andrew) Tarrant of Poznan, Poland; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
